Stand Out with a Top LSAT Score

The Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) is an examination that tests reading and reasoning. Applicants to law school find that a good LSAT score can make their profile stand out and increase their odds of acceptance. No knowledge of specific laws is needed for this test, but there are reasoning methods and reading strategies that are essential to getting a top score. Finding the median LSAT score of your target school is a great way to develop a goal for your test.

The New LSAT and Testing Options

Since 2024, the LSAT has only two types of questions:

  • paragraph-based Logical Reasoning
  • longer passage-based Reading Comprehension

The full exam takes about three hours and includes three scored sections and one unscored “experimental section.” If you have done older tests with Logic Games (Analytical Reasoning), be aware that this is no longer part of the LSAT.

The LSAT can be taken either remotely (with an online proctor) or at designated Prometric test centers. There is an unscored essay for the LSAT, which can be taken on a different day from the scored multiple choice exam. For a limited number of students, the GRE is sometimes accepted in lieu of the LSAT.
