Mathematician, Veteran World-Class Tutor, Standardized Testing Expert
Neil Bernstein loves teaching. After studying (and running cross-country) at Stanford, he received his PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computing from Cranfield University, UK, and recently relocated to Boulder from the North Shore of Boston, Massachusetts. For ten years, Neil owned and managed Prometheus Tutors, a Test Prep and Tutoring center in Beverly, MA. Over the years, Neil has created customized tutoring materials, including special math tutorials for test prep, and has also created some of the earliest high-quality diagnostic tests and tracking systems for SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT. Outside of test prep, Neil’s innovative engineering research revolutionized the treatment of Dimensions and Tolerances in Mechanical Design, and his results are embedded in all national and international standards and in all CAD/CAM systems. Neil’s experiences have given him the ability to connect with and engage a diverse range of students, from the highest achieving to those with various challenges.
