These days, any college will accept either SAT or ACT scores, but there are significant differences between the two tests. Some students are better-suited to the ACT, while others are better-suited to the SAT. (Learn more about the differences between the tests here). Because the tests do have important differences, it’s smart to make sure that the test your student is preparing for is the test that best plays to his or her strengths. Our Practice Test Program is designed to do just that.

The Practice Test Program allows students to take a remotely proctored, timed practice ACT and a proctored, online, timed practice SAT, using previously-administered versions of the test from recent years. We deliver practice tests remotely via Zoom videoconference and the test experience is designed to replicate the environment of the real SAT and ACT. After students complete both tests we then schedule review meeting with student and parent to analyze test scores and make recommendations for testing and test prep based on the student’s individual score breakdown and needs.

For high school juniors who’ve had their upcoming SAT and ACT test dates postponed, Mindfish is offering a special online essay boot camp to help them get a jump on their college application essays.

With many schools being closed temporarily and sports and extracurriculars being cancelled for the rest of the spring, students may be looking for a way to use their time productively. Our essay boot camp will provide an enjoyable and supportive structure for students to get a head-start on the all-important personal statement and their supplemental essays as well.

Advanced Placement (AP) tests will be given as scheduled this May, but will be offered in a new format due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Tests will be 45 minutes long and will have no multiple choice component. All of the tests will be offered in a Free-Response format and will also be open-book, allowing students to consult textbooks and notes during the exam. This is a new and unique format for AP tests and we think that this year’s tests present a great opportunity for students to prepare.
